Because of his brown beret and baroque music stylings, you might expect to see Donald Heller, better known as "the Hurdy Gurdy man," sitting along the Seine in Paris during the Golden Age. But in reality, you can find Heller, his hurdy gurdy and his spry-looking dachsund perched on the footbridge in Boston Public Garden, and in 2014, no less.

Though Heller currently resides in Boston, he didn't always live in the U.S. Throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, Heller traveled through Europe.

It was in 1979 that he married Anicét, his current wife, and picked up his first hurdy gurdy. Together, the duo performed at music festivals in Holland, Germany, France and Italy.

Today, Heller performs with the "band," which now includes his and Anicet's two sons. When he isn't performing in the Public Garden, he's putting on shows with his family for schools and museums.
